Preferred Experience Requirements

Teaching experience at the BSN level and higher. Five years experience in educational administration program development and leadership. Experience in research and grant writing. Must be a professional registered nurse holding a baccalaureate and master's degrees in nursing and earned doctorate degree.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Five years experience in nursing education curriculum, administration and leadership. Experience as program director/ chair as well as excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications

Registered Nurse Licensed in the State of Texas.

Prairie View A & M University seeks candidates for the Associate Dean for Academic Programs position. The idea candidate will be assisting the Dean in administering and overseeing the nursing programs; Primary duties include, but are not limited to, providing leadership in planning and coordinating the operations of all academic programs which include assessment, evaluation, development and revision of courses and curricula; collaborating with directors, coordinators and the Dean in scheduling classes, making teaching assignments, and other duties that support instruction; planning and monitoring with directors, coordinators and admissions the recruitment, professional staff, progression, retention, and advisement of students; working with the Dean to develop, promote and maintain community, interdisciplinary and inter professional academic programs and initiatives; collaborating with the Dean to evaluate faculty performance and making recommendations regarding retention, promotions, merit and tenure; providing and monitoring the effectiveness of orientation programs for new full and part time faculty; provides for on-going faculty mentoring; maintaining currency of knowledge in nursing education by attending state and national meetings participation in scholarly activities, publication and research; collaborating with directors, coordinator and faculty to actively pursue grants and external funding sources; assuming leadership in planning and implanting special projects; fostering a departmental climate that supports collegiality and professional development of students, faculty and staff.
